Who We Are


Ben Stoneham, Lord Stoneham of Droxford

Ben has lived in Droxford for the past 24 years. He worked for over twenty years in the newspaper industry initially with the company who owned the Portsmouth News and then as Operations Director of News international. He chaired the company who built the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, and has been involved in economic regeneration work since the 1990’s. He was made a Liberal Democrat Life Peer in 2011. He has had a lifetime interest in politics and local history, and in particular the logistics of D-Day.

George Hollingbery MP

George Hollingbery BA MBA was elected at the 2010 General Election as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the new Meon Valley constituency.

Executive Committee

Chairman – John Symes
John retired from Cisco Systems in 2011 having spent 30 years as a senior manager in the telecommunications industry.  He is a member of the congregation at St Mary’s church and has lived in Droxford for over 20 years.

Vice-Chairman – Tony Hoile
Tony has worked in the construction industry for 50 years, and is currently employed as a Contacts Manager for CLC Contractors Ltd. In addition to his role on the FODC he also acts as an advisor on building matters for the PCC.

Treasurer – Nick Capon
Nick works at the University of Portsmouth Business School as an academic and leader of applied research. He has been treasurer of Shirrell Heath Methodist Church who have completed a £400,000 extension this year and is hoping that experience will be valuable in Droxford. He has lived in Droxford for 10 years.

Secretary and Legal Advisor – Michael Profit 
Retired from the law firm Blake Lapthorn after 44 years but still practising as a  Notary Public, Michael has been resident in Droxford since 1982. Over the years he has been involved with many local activities including secretary of Droxford Country Fair for eight years and has also been a member the PCC.

Droxford Parochial Church Council Representative – Jeff Hooper
Jeff is a long term Droxford resident and member of the church.  He has extensive business experience as a Company Director.

Community Business Advisor – Mel Rankine
Mel was Commercial Director at University Hospital Southampton until he retired in 2017.  Previously he worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London responsible for setting up joint venture companies and facilities management including catering services.  Earlier Mel worked for an international catering company.

Architectural Advisor – John Dryden Brownlee
John is a Chartered Architect, and has worked with Portsmouth City Council, HCC, and as Chief Architect HCC/GLC Basingstoke Town Joint Committee for town expansion programme, and Borough of Basingstoke Chief Architect 1973-1982; he has worked in Private Practice 1982 to present. Specialist work includes NHS Surgery provision and commercial waste disposal plants in Southern Counties, as well as residential.

Membership Secretary – Peter Richardson
Peter is membership Secretary for FODC and also helps to keep the website up to date. He and his wife have lived in the village since 1997 and their children have known no other home. He and his family are strong supporters of community life in the village, and have (between them) been active on the PCC and fair committee in the past.

Archaeological Advisor – Michael Chandler                                             Michael has lived in Droxford for over 20 years and works as a senior European Compliance Manager for Zurich Insurance. He has a degree in Archaeological Conservation and maintains a great interest in the subject.
